• 1 cupunsalted butter, softened
• ¾ cuppowdered sugar
• 1 teaspoonvanilla extract
• 2 cupsall-purpose flour
• ¼ teaspoonsalt
• ½ cupdried cranberries, chopped
• ½ cupshelled pistachios, chopped
• 1 teaspoonorange zest (optional)
• Sparkling sugar for garnish (optional)

Instructions

1. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
2. Add vanilla extract and optional orange zest, mixing until combined.
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture.
4. Fold in cranberries and pistachios.
5. Chill dough for at least 2 hours.
6. Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C) and slice dough into rounds.
7. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until edges are golden.
8. Cool on wire rack.
