Ingredients
Scale
2puff pastry sheets
250 gfresh spinach
200 gfeta cheese
100 gcream cheese
50 gdried cranberries, chopped
1clove garlic, minced
⅛ tspnutmeg
¼ tspcracked black pepper
1egg, beaten (for egg wash)
1 tbspsesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
Begin by placing a dry skillet over medium heat. Add the fresh spinach and sauté it for about 2 to 3 minutes or until it wilts completely. Transfer the spinach to a colander to remove any excess water and let it cool before chopping it finely.
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped spinach with the feta cheese, cream cheese, minced garlic, nutmeg, pepper, and dried cranberries. Mix thoroughly until you have a creamy filling.
Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a floured surface to about 1/8 inch thick. Cut the pastry into long strips and slice diagonally to create triangular shapes.
Starting from the base of each triangle, gently roll them up towards the tip, forming a cone-like structure. Pinch the base to secure it.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and prepare a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place the pastry trees upright on the sheet and brush the tops with beaten egg. Bake for 20-25 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
Notes
Ensure to drain the spinach well; excess moisture can lead to soggy pastries. Monitor the baking time closely.
